Chris Skidmore is a Project Manager for WL Port-Land Systems and is responsible for coordinating information and project materials among the engineering group, purchasing, subcontractors, field superintendents and our clients to transform a design/build contract into a functional turnkey system.

Chris has been involved in engineering, manufacturing and construction since 1989 in various roles from draftsman, estimating, field construction coordinator, operations and project management.  He began his career with an engineering/service company where he was responsible for the design and coordination of bulk material handling projects in the power generation/coal industry.  Chris's material handling experience later expanded with another employer into glass batching systems, slip form structures, ladle additive systems, and equipment for the pulp and paper industry.  He later held the position of Project Manager for a steel manufacturer where he coordinated the design, fabrication and installation of a wide range of systems and equipment for the steel, bridge, and commercial construction industries.  These projects included various material handling systems/equipment, casting and rolling mill equipment, bridge components, and various architectural structures.  In 2006, Chris applied his background in a new role as the Operations Manager for a steel manufacturer/distributor.  In this position, he managed the people, equipment and multiple facilities to produce and ship upwards of 5000 tons of product per month while gaining valuable insight into the operational challenges faced by our clients each day.

Chris returned to his project oriented career roots in 2012 at WL Port-Land Systems where he applies his design, manufacturing, and operations background to produce quality, state of the art, and on-time systems for our clients.  Chris is a graduate of Geneva College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management.  He also attended Butler County Community College focusing on Mechanical Engineering Technology.
